Suggest treatment For Pain And Burning Sensation In The Shoulder
My female friend, age 54, has been suffering for several months from intermittently sharp, dull, burning, aching pain in her left arm, shoulder, and left side of torso. She has had only a few xrays of the area by a walk-in clinic doctor and was told that she had a pinched nerve or sprained muscle and was given scripts for flexerall, and valium which gave her minimal and short-lived relief. At times she experiences screaming pain which keeps her from sleeping anymore than an hour at a time. What should she do?
Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist, Niraj Modi's Response
As per your explanation. I strongly believe she has either micro level soft tissue damage or if range block is also present in shoulder then it could also be frozen shoulder. For proper diagnosis I suggest her to do mri of affected shoulder and as per report do visit physio and ortho if there is no more serious soft tissue damage then it will recover with physio treatment and if there is a serious soft tissue damage is present then it will take time to recover and may go for minor arthroscopic surgical repair. In both cases it is treatable condition so don't worry. One most important thing people who all have diabetes takes time to recover for shoulder problem. As well she also have to follow the thumb rule that is any activity like lifting hand over the shoulder as well lifting weight as well sleeping on affected side she should not be doing for time being. She can also use hot pack and cold pack frequently for sothing effect on soft tissue. Hope this was helpful for Take care.
